About Sibley

Sibley Elementary is a K-5 elementary school located off of Highway 13 next to Southwest Middle School. Built in 1957, Sibley serves approximately 275 students. It is a cozy two-story building that includes a roomy playground and field area.

Sibley’s mission is to develop the maximum potential of the whole learner by creating a school environment that nurtures life-long academic, emotional, and social growth. Our vision of “Growing Together: Every Learner, Every Day” includes all students and adults in our school. We are all committed to being lifelong learners to provide the best instruction for our students. We take great “pride” in our school-wide Tiger Pride: Safety, Respect and Responsibility.

Students in K-5 receive core instruction in all content areas aligned with Minnesota State Standards. We have WIN (What I Need) time during Language Arts and Math to provide differentiated instruction to students on a daily basis. In addition, Sibley has reading and math intervention, multilingual learner, and special education support on a daily basis.  Students that meet the criteria are also able to attend Targeted Services After School Program.  Other options for students are Math Masters for fifth grade, Project Exploration for grades 3-5, Science Fair, Young Authors Young Artists, Patrol Camp, in addition to educational field trips at all grade levels.

Our Parent/Teacher Organization, Sibley SHARE, meets once per month - usually the second Monday of each month at 5:30 PM in the Media Center, to organize fun student and family events.

Sibley teachers value collaboration, commitment, respect, and being human-centered. Our collaborative teams are dedicated to meeting our student’s needs kid by kid, skill by skill.
